Registration and Season Information
REGISTRATION:
Open from September 4th- September 29th
COSTS:
$275 Registration Fee (refunded if player does not make team)
Costs to expect after making team:
- Purchase of reversible game uniform (all grades 4-7), approx. $100 (may vary). 8th grade teams are not required to purchase new uniforms (unless player is new to RHTB), unless needed for sizing or replacement
- Required fundraising:
o RH community discount cards - Sell or buy (15) $10 discount cards ($150 total raised)
o Participate in league-wide fundraising event in February, which may include purchasing/selling tickets and providing raffle prizes. 7th grade boys and girls teams are expected to organize this event with assistance from all other teams
Please Note: Rocky Hill Travel Basketball is a completely volunteer-lead league with a near Net Zero budget. All funds collected or raised are used to compensate referees, rent space in gyms, pay tournament fees, purchase gear, fundraise, pay website fees and occasionally give players access to other programs. Fundraising is a necessary component of our league’s financial health, directly benefits the players and is an expected part of participation.
TRYOUTS:
Each team will hold 2 tryouts during the weeks of September 29th and October 6th
Players are expected to attend both tryouts
Team size is at the discretion of the coach, typically with a roster between 8 and 12 players
TEAMS:
Boys- Grades 4-8
Girls- Grades 4-8
All grades are dependent on having enough participation and a qualified volunteer coach (this is determined before tryouts)
SEASON LENGTH:
Boys:
- Practices begin early-mid October
- League games begin early December and go through late Feb
- Teams may add out-of-league games before, during or after the league season at the coach’s discretion
Girls:
- Practices begin in early-mid October
- League games begin mid-November and go through early March
- Teams may add out-of-league games before, during or after the league season at the coach’s discretion
PRACTICES:
Expectation is that each team will practice 2-3 times each week. This may vary based on holiday, school, game and tournament schedules
GAMES:
Expectation is each team will play 2 games per weekend, most weekends. Occasionally, there can be weekday games. Including tournaments, expect between 25-30 games in the season with the final number being at the coach’s discretion
TOURNAMENTS:
Expectation is that each team will participate in a minimum of 1 tournament before, during or after the regular league season
VOLUNTEERING:
At the discretion of the coach, each team will likely need volunteers throughout the season. These roles can include, but are not limited to:
- Fundraising leader (community discount cards)
- End of season event coordinator (league-wide event)
- Scoreboard operator
- Official Scorebook operator
- GameChanger or other scoring app operator
- LiveStream coordinator
GEAR:
All players for all teams will receive the following:
- Reversible practice jersey
- Shooting shirt
Players for the 6th grade boys and girls teams will receive:
- Basketball
Players for the 5th grade boys and girls teams will receive:
- Bag
A team store to purchase further gear on a voluntary basis will open in the pre-season
